What is PWGen?
PWGen is a random generator for passwords that contain definable characters. So the created passwords serve to
increase security for every surfer, because the passwords do not contain any words that can be assigned to a surfer. So PWGen is valuable for
every surfer that attach importance to
secure passwords!
In the current versions 0.34 and 0.52 there is the possibility to save OWN PASSWORDS FOR OTHER WEBSITES (e. g. online banking, forum passwords etc.) in the
unlimited free entries, so PWGen can also be used comfortably as
password database for every user independent of if the program is also used as webmaster to manage own servers. Of course, every
database is stored encrypted, a
password protection for accessing the program is also implemented!
PWGen directs with more functions also to webmasters that attach importance to a comfortable management of protected directories.
To this end, the program contains routines starting with extensive databases over user managing, password creating up to the needed crypting of the passwords for the htpasswd/htaccess method and an implented FTP module for uploading directly to the server.
The version available since 2000/11/10 in the
download area serve in the first place for testing and contain all documented functions. The shareware version is limited to 2 sites à 2 directores à 2 users. This limitation concerns
only webmasters for site and directory management.
The password databases for the free entries are
unlimitedin size!
